A few days ago, an article in the San Diego Union Tribune read of the recent studies being done on Facebook, an internatioal social network that is one of the top daily visited sites on the web. The data being used in these studies is social; how people choose who they befriend, what sort of people are drawn to one another, social trends and such. I find this fascinating, especially as I am a member of the Facebook community myself and have witnessed its complete remodeling over the past year. Based off of our demandings, the young fellow who birthed Facebook supplies loads of entertainment. Extending the offer to all ages, not just to college students, creating methods for the comparing of our tastes in music and films, allowing for the chucking of virtual snowballs and the gifting of virtual plants and sexy lingerie. We so called "Facebookers" are a collected pool of trend-setting data.
